Sabre de Troupe, 2eme Regiment de Chasseurs a Cheval de Ligne. This Regiment served with such distinction that upon their request, Napoleon allowed them to retain the sabers originally issued to them. Examples are extremely rare (see Christian Aries fascicule 2, 1966). The steel hilt has the original black leather wire bound grip and steel pommel; the knucklebow and hilt are riveted together to form a large ‘N’. The base of the hilt has two stamps, a 4 and an A, possibly for Thiebault Apfler. The 39 inch curved blade is stamped near the base with a crowned B (Francoise Bisch) and crowned J (Lieut-Colonel Juchereau). The black leather scabbard is mounted with brass and steel fixtures. The sabre is all original in fine condition. The price has been substantially reduced to sell and offers a rare opportunity to collectors of 1e Empire Cavalry sabres.
