The Relief of Ekowe – Lord Chelmsford’s Column Crossing the Amantikulu River.  Woodcut engraving, not attributed, published by The Graphic, May 17th, 1879; 18 1/2 x 39 inches plus margins, hand coloured.  Following the disaster at Isandhlwana, one of Chelmsford’s columns was besieged at Ekowe and had to be relieved.  The panorama shows the approach of the relief force which included a large naval contingent.  V.FINE
