Royal Guard of Murat
Royal Guard of Murat, King of Italy, 1813.
This spectacular figure on a rearing horse in full action, also known as
a Murat Hussar, displays his flamboyant uniform, red trousers and flying fur edged pelisse worn over a green dolman, all with extravagant gold lace decoration, the mount with a matching blanket and elaborate rosettes attached to the bridle and rear of the saddle. His brown busby has a red bag and tall white plume.
