Napoleon Rising Snuffbox, c.1821-25.  This circular Mache box with hand painted transfer shows Napoleon ascending into Heaven, greeted by Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar. The symbolic lamentation of France is characterized by the despair of his Army left behind. An additional decal on the base provides further comment.  A rare memento of the passing of the great Emperor of France in excellent condition; 3 5/8 inches diameter.
