Lannes:  Historic, single page ALS, two sides, written at the time of one of the seminal events of the Consulate, ten days after the Coup d’Etat de Brumaire.  Dated le 21 brumaire an 8 de la Republique (11th November, 1799) and addressed to Citoyen bonaparte, Consul de la republique francaise.  An impassioned recomendation for appointment to a suitable military command, stating unwavering devotion to Bonaparte.  On thin paper, the ink bleeding through to reverse, signed Le Gle. Lannes, in clear, bold cursive.  Documents signed by Lannes are most difficult to obtain.  Rare & Desirable.
