A stunning, French gilt bronze silk thread suspension mantle clock, the gilt case featuring a mounted bust of the Greek God of War, Zeus, an image often employed during the First Empire, showcasing the strength and power of France. The bust has a dark brown patina. The body of the case has applied mounts and filigree moldings with ornate rococo feet. The silk thread suspension movement has a half hour bell strike. Overall condition is FINE with no wear to the case; the beveled glass rear door is good. Measurements are: 11 inches wide, x 221/2 inches high and 5 inches deep.
