Robinson, R.N.  1st Edition, London 1900, 144pp., with 72 full colour plates of those Officers who achieved acclaim during the Anglo-Boer War.  The book is a classic of the period, notable for the early photographic portraits and the career biographies of each officer, ranging from F-M Lord Roberts to Colonel Baden-Powell, and Lord Kitchener to Major-General Sir Bindon Blood.  Complete examples of the book are scarce as many of the illustrations are often removed for their decorative value.  This magnificent example is bound in full red morocco with gilt line and floral pattern border, spine with bands, floral panel devices and title, and visually stunning black and red Italian end papers. Published as a subscription series, the original grey card wraps with advertising are bound in at the rear. With matching slipcase with the publisher’s cloth covers laid down.   Superb.
