Cavaliers de Napoleon.  Masson, Frederic.  1st Edition, Boussod, Valadon et Cie, Paris 1895, 238pp., coloured frontis and illustrations d’apres les tableaux et aquarelles de Eduard Detaille.  The 32 full page and in text B&W illustrations are the finest examples of Detaille’s work, recalling the glories of French cavalry during the Napoleonic era.  Original half morocco binding, Italian boards and illustrations with titled tissue guards; very slight wear at corners and spine ends and old repair to the rear board leather, t.e.g.  The interior near pristine, the slightest browning to some blank end pages and tissue guards.  A classic for the Napoleonic library.
