71e Regiment Officer’s mercury gilt Shako Plate, c.1852.  A pristine example; the eagle, facing right and with ruffled breast feathers, stands on lightning bolts with the Regimental number 71 stamped pochoir in the centre globe.  Early 2e Empire example.
