French Marine Infantry, c.1899.  Standing with his foot on a rock, his rifle resting on his knee, hand on hip.  His plain dark blue jacket has red service stripes on the lower arm and he carries a rolled blanket over his shoulder, bayonet scabbard, a pouch and canteen.  Trousers, wrapped puttees and sun helmet are all white.  Great.
