Zouave, France, c.1890.  Standing with one foot on a rock, rifle at the ready.  Typically of this period, he carries a backpack, large cooking pots, pouches and an entrenching spade.  His jacket is dark blue with red edge decoration, and a red fez with blue tassel, white trousers and boots and wrapped puttees complete the appearance.
