12th Light Dragoon Officer: Miniature & Snuff Box, c.1805.   This portrait miniature is one of the finest we have ever seen and certainly a notable example of the art.  The artist is unknown, although the detail and character of the Officer is extremely specific and of unsurpassed quality. Surely, this handsome man was from a very wealthy family.  The 2 5/8 x 1 inch box is made of ebony and tortoise shell and the metal work of solid gold.  A show-stopping miniature.
